Peaceful Normandy

Arriving at Omaha beach today, the sea was blue, beautiful sky above, calm and quiet except for the soft rolling of the waves on the sand. It was difficult to imagine all those young soldiers landing on that beach amid the horror and fury of war, which for many of them was the last thing they knew. A sobering reminder of those who gave their lives so that we today could enjoy the peaceful nature and calm environment which is Normandy.
